What does Adelina do for FPIN?

As Managing Editor of FPIN’s peer-reviewed journal, Evidence-Based Practice, I work closely with our publisher, WoltersKluwer Health to ensure we deliver a high-quality publication every month. My responsibilities include oversight of manuscript submissions all the way to the final production of each issue. I also work with editors-in-chief, the journal editorial board, and project managers to continuously improve the quality of our content and publication.

When I am not copyediting manuscripts or planning for the journal, you can find me corresponding with authors and editors within FPIN’s Clinical Inquiries project. As CI Project Manager, I work with our members to help them be as successful as they can be with their scholarly work. I also serve as board secretary where I am responsible for maintaining our bylaws and keeping minutes for the organization.

Prior to joining FPIN, I spent the early years of my career as a journalist for various community newspapers and publications. I developed my writing and editing skills by working on different beats including crime, politics, military news, the environment and also health and wellness. As a strong communicator and includer, I enjoy the art of effectively disseminating critical information and value team-based approaches to problem solving.

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I moved to the United States at the age of 19 and received my bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder.

I love cooking and always trying new cuisines or new restaurants. I also enjoy being active like taking my dog on a hike or to the park, working out at the gym or being outside when the weather is nice. If you don’t find me in the kitchen or outdoors, I am most likely trying to keep up with my 4-month old daughter and enjoy learning everything there is to know about parenting.

Unique Skills

I am bi-lingual in Malay, and like to think that I can cook delicious Malaysian cuisine.

Fun Facts

I’ve lived in four different states in the U.S. and also briefly in northern Thailand.

What do you love most about FPIN?

I love having the opportunity to be a part of an organization with people that are incredibly passionate about the cause and work they do each day. It is inspiring to work with such an elite team of educators in primary care in this country and to have such an active role in advancing the discipline overall. Since being a part of the FPIN staff, I’ve greatly valued the teamwork, professional development, and networking opportunities available to our team.

Favorite Netflix series or movie and why?

Being a new mom, I currently enjoy the series Workin Moms as it comically chronicles the daily challenges moms face. The show has been very relatable and allows me to laugh at the trials of motherhood. I am also an avid fan of the Stranger Things franchise and most of Anthony Bourdain’s Part's Unknown series.
